Plot

Need a lawyer? He runs his law firm out of his Lincoln and is ready to hit the gas. He moves around Los Angeles taking on cases while also juggling a personal life that includes fatherhood and two ex-wives.

Originally planned for a series commitment in 2020 by CBS, but it was canceled due to COVID shortly before the first episode began filming. This has now been picked up by Netflix for a 10-episode first season based on the second Mickey Haller book, "The Brass Verdict." Mickey Haller has several cars, all with personalized California license plates with legal terms on them. Personalized plates with a maximum of seven letters/numbers are allowed in California, but Mickey's plates have a minimum of eight.

The viewer can identify with the ups and downs of Haller's legal career

This is a fun first season of the series based on the novels by Michael Connelly. The tandem of David Kelley and Ted Humphrey succeed in bringing to the screen the grim story of smart criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller, his associates, and his family. But one is impressed by his passion for the law and his genuine concern for his clients.

The storylines are well thought out and quite entertaining

The film manages to capture his deep humanity despite his flaws. Aside from Haller, all the other main characters are relatable: Cisco, Lorna, Maggie, Trevor Elliott, Hayley, and even Detective Griggs. The twists and turns keep the viewer's attention as the drama resonates.

Start with season 2

In particular, the way Haller manages to unravel the miracle cure, link one crime to another, and use it in the trial is ingenious. Serious students of criminal law and criminal procedure will definitely appreciate The Law and the free tutorial it offers them.
